The Needful
Jesus visited. Martha was busy with serving. Mary was at the Saviour's feet listening to His Word. Martha became overwhelmed with serving and complained to the Lord to let Mary come help her. But the Master wouldn't consent to such. He wouldn't drive Mary away from His presence and from what truly matters- His Word. He wouldn't take from Mary the one thing that is needful (Luke 10:38-42).
The Word of God is the needful to life. What it contains and says is all we need for life. Being at the feet of Jesus, hearing His Word and growing in it is the most needful. The Word of God is our light and guide to life. Everyone that is of God doesn't live by another standard, except by the Word of God. All we need in life we find in His Word. His promises are true and He's faithful to keep them all. We know God and know our place in Him through His Word.
Jesus called the Word of God the needful. Don't let other voices drown God's Word to you. Rather silence all and hear only God. Hear Him through His Word. Live your life absolutely based on His Word. Let no one and nothing dictate for you other than God and His Word. As you live through the Light of God's Word, you'll find life and have the blessings that come from obedience and adherence to the truth of God.
