The US ambassador to the UN, Nikki Haley arrived Israel on Wednesday morning for a three-day visit. She was welcomed on arrival by Israel’s ambassador to the UN, Danny Danon. On the first day of the visit, Ambassador Haley met with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Jerusalem.
“The citizens of Israel are delighted to welcome you today in our country and thank you for standing strongly alongside us,” said Danon. “We are hoping to introduce you to Israel in the coming days and further deepen the cooperation between us.”
During her visit, Nikki Haley will be meeting with President Reuven Rivlin. She will also receive a security briefing from military officials on Israel’s northern boarder. Haley is expected to tour Yad Vashem and Jerusalem’s Old City. And before departure, she will meet with senior figures from the Palestinian Authority.
Ambassador Danon had this to say on day 1 of the visit. “Prime Minister Netanyahu and I met today with Ambassador Haley in Jerusalem and thanked her for her support for Israel. We discussed the challenges facing both our countries, and how to deepen our cooperation at the UN. Together with the US, now is the time to enact real reforms at the UN so that it will reflect Israel’s true stature in the international community.”
