Peace Beyond Understanding
We live in a territory that lacks peace. The world we live in has rejected God and for this, there cannot be peace. There can never be peace without God and without the Prince of peace who is Jesus. The christian lives in a world that has rejected God. We share the same world with those that have rejected the Lord. But though we live in a troubled world, there’s a peace reserved for those that fear the Lord and are His. However troubled the world may get, we have the promise of the peace that passes all understanding from our Father.
And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:7
Philippians 4:7 says we have the peace of God that passes all understanding through Jesus Christ. For the one that has Jesus, there is peace in a turbulent world. There is the assurance of peace. The craziness of this world, the noise and lack of peace in it has no place in a heart where Jesus the Prince of peace lives. Their lack of peace does not disturb our peace within. Though the world may be upside down, the Christian would always be calm and at peace. In the midst of troubles, problems of life and undesirable circumstances that we may face, we are still at rest and at peace in God. This peace is difficult for the world to understand.
Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. John 14:27
The Lord proclaimed His peace upon us while He was on earth, before His return to His glory. As His child and a child of the Kingdom, this peace is yours. This is the peace the world cannot give because it doesn’t have it to give. Acquisition of material things, power, position and other things of this life can’t give it. Neither can we find it in our fellow humans. It is found only in Jesus. We have promises of peace in many places in the Scripture. It is so because that’s one thing we’ll need in times like this.
…Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid, John 14:27. Nothing should trouble you and take your peace. Problems and challenges of life should not stop you from enjoying God’s promise of peace. Rather drop all problems at the feet of the Lord and enjoy His peace and presence. Be at peace because He will take care of you. He will take care of everything. We don’t worry and lose our peace when we know who holds the past, the present and the future. He is our God.
A heart at peace in God does not fret or worry. It doesn’t panic like the world in times of trouble. It is relaxed and filled with the peace of God. This is the peace that is beyond understanding. Enjoy this peace at all times. There is no turmoil in a heart God occupies. His presence brings peace. Remain in this peace through Jesus Christ His Son. Understand that there’s nothing going on in the world and in your own personal life that He is not aware. He is aware and He is in charge. He will take care of you. Let His peace rule in you. Draw comfort from Him through His peace that passes all understanding.
And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful. Colossians 3:15
Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. Isaiah 26:3
Now the Lord of peace himself give you peace always by all means. The Lord be with you all. 2 Thessalonians 3:16
