It Was a Lie
As Christians we are not just confronted with the evil in the world. We also face the lies of the enemy. He is constantly telling us lies about ourselves and about our situations. What we make of those lies is very important because it determines a lot. In John 8:44, Jesus called the devil a liar and the father of lies. So why would anyone believe a liar?
In Eden, man fell because of the lies of the enemy. We shouldn’t continue to fall because of his lies. He twisted the Word of God, misconstrued it and presented to Eve. Unfortunately, Eve let him have his way. Man heard his lies, believed his lies and acted according to his lies. The result was the fall. We became separated from God and suffering was born. That’s how consequential and grievous accepting the lies of the devil could get.
If we continue to accept the lies of the devil, we will also continue to have the consequences that come with them. Satan has his lies and the Lord has the Truth. So whose report do you believe; the Truth or the lies?
It was a lie when the enemy told you you’re weak because the Lord says you’re strong; Joel 3:10; Philippians 4:13. It was a lie when he said you’re not saved, because the Lord says you are; 2 Timothy 1:9; Acts 2:21. It was a lie when he called you a loser and a failure because God proclaims you the head and a winner; Deuteronomy 28:13; 1 Corinthians 15:57. It was a lie when he told you you’ll die when the Lord says you’ll live; Psalm 118:17; 1 John 5:11-12. It was a lie when the devil whispered to you that you’re not righteous when the Lord says you are; 2 Corinthians 5:21; Romans 3:22. It was a lie when he said you’re sick because the Lord says you’re healed; 1 Peter 2:24; Isaiah 53:5. It was a lie when he told you you’ll not prosper because Truth says you will; 3 John 1:2; 2 Corinthians 8:9. It was a lie when the enemy said you’re ugly when the Lord says you’re beautiful; Psalm 139:14; Genesis 1:27. It was a lie when he told you you’re cursed because the Lord said you’re blessed; Deuteronomy 28:8; Galatians 3:13. It was a lie when the devil said you’re abandoned because the Lord declares He will never leave or forsake you; Hebrews 13:5; Isaiah 41:10.
There are many lies of the enemy. We can go on and on, but despite his numerous lies we have much more Truth in God’s Word to counter them all. So don’t let the devil’s lies inside of you. Give him no space at all. Don’t lease your heart to him and his lies. Throw them in the trash bin and walk because they’re nothing but garbage. Jesus said no truth is found in him so treat his lies for what they are- lies. Resist the devil and he will flee from you with his lies. Shut him out. He won’t succeed if you don’t let him. Rather have God’s beautiful Truth dwelling in you. Be established in God’s Truth and you’ll prosper in it.
So whose report would you believe? Believe the report of the Lord. Only His Truth would grant us the great life and blessings Jesus died to give us. Only the Truth sets free, delivers, blesses and prospers.
