Word Of The Week: Love Like Your Father
Jesus is the greatest act, the greatest gift and the greatest expression of love. In Him, the love of God for mankind is fully expressed. God loves the greatest. He didn’t just say He loves us, He proved He loves us when He gave us His son. He gave us the greatest gift we would ever receive- the gift of His only begotten Son, Jesus. John 3:16 says that God so loved the world and for this incomparable love, He gave His one and only Son to save the world. This is the greatest token of love from the great God.
Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. He who does not love does not know God, for God is love. In this the love of God was manifested towards us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. 1 John 4:7-9
In loving us, God taught us to love. 1 John 4 tells us that God is love and whosoever is of God loves. He that does not love does not know God. Everyone born of the Father loves like the Father. 1 Corinthians 13 is the love chapter. It tells us what we could do as children of God. It added that if we do all those things but don’t have love for others, all we have done would amount to nothing. Everything will fade away, but love would remain. It abides forever. It is the greatest of all.
The first element of the Christian faith is love. It is in our blood line. God the Father who begot us loves the greatest and commands us to love like Him. Love like your Father. God is in everyone you see, so show them love. The book of James 2 says if you can take care of a need in the life of someone but you choose not to, but tells the person to go and be filled, you’ve done wrong. Let God use you. Let His love flow through you to others. Help the needy as much as you can and as much as the Lord grants you the ability. You will be glad you did. Your Heavenly Father will be pleased you did.
We are blessed to bless. God wants His blessings in our lives to overflow to others. Let them see the God in you by the love you show. Touch lives. Help others. Don’t leave it for someone else. Don’t think someone else will do it. You are the someone else that should do it. James 4:17 says, “Therefore to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin.” Love like your Father loves. He counts on you to express His love to others.
