Word Of The Week: Living By The Word
One of the first commands we received from the Lord when He was on earth was on how to live. It came as He was in the wilderness, praying and preparing to begin His ministry. There He gave us the one way to life and for living.
But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. Matthew 4:4
It’s no wonder that the Lord’s command on how to live was connected to His Word. God is His Word, and does everything by His Word. He created the world by His Word. We were created by the Word of God and we live by the same Word. His Word is life. It gives eternal life. It saves. It heals. It directs. It guides. It delivers. It’s food to the soul. It restores the lost. To him that lacks wisdom, it gives wisdom and counsel. It’s light in the dark. It’s strength to the weak. It brings us into oneness with our God. It changes us, yet doesn’t change. Living by the Word of God is what the Lord commands us to do, and it is for our good.
In Matthew 4:4, Jesus says we shall live by ‘every’ Word of God. Not by some Word of God, but we live by every Word of God. Every Word of God is as powerful. God is His Word. His Word is His precepts and His promises. Live by it and possess His promises. His Word is His law and His blessings. Heed to it and enjoy His blessings.
God’s Word is His standard for life and for living. It is life manual from the manufacturer. Read the Word everyday. Meditate on the Word. Obey the Word. Live daily by it. There’s no other way to life other than God’s Word- the Scripture. It takes preeminence over every other book, idea, philosophy, system (political or any other), opinion, academia, orientation, culture, belief or lifestyle. It is life authority filled with power. It is our only way to life. Live by the infallible Word of God.
The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever. Isaiah 40:8
