What Jesus Wants
If we live our lives based on how Jesus would want us to live, we will avoid many errors and reduce life troubles. Living in the light of what Jesus wants is living in the will of God. When a believer is faced with a situation, the question should be, "What would Jesus want me to do? If Jesus were to be in my situation, how would He respond?"
Impulsive response and brazen actions to situations most times leave us with regrets. Because we acted without thinking, we end up acting the way we shouldn't. Sometimes through our irrational attitude, we cause loss and pain that could have been avoided. Whenever you're faced with any situation, instead of responding impulsively without thinking, take some deep breath and say a little heart prayer, even if it's for a few seconds. Then ask yourself "What would Jesus want me to do?" What would He do if He was the one in your shoes? Because of the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit, the Christian would always know without a doubt what the Lord Himself would do and what He wants from us. The battle would now be if you would respond to your situation the Lord's way or not. This is where obedience comes in- a true test of discipleship.
For the Christian who is led by the Holy Spirit and armed with the knowledge of the Word of God, it is easy to discern what Jesus would want. This is not the case with the non-believer. Knowing the character of our Lord and His ways begins with knowing Him. Knowing Him begins with surrendering to Him. When you come into fellowship and oneness with the Lord through total surrender, you'll find peace living life the Lord's way.
Make it a lifestyle to always ask, "What does Jesus want?" And as the Holy Spirit impresses on you the will of God which is what Jesus wants, don't hesitate to obey. Jesus is our perfect example. Let us live following His footsteps.
1 John 2:6
He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked.
