True Worship
True worship is not superficial. It flows from the heart, and is what the Lord desires. It comes from a heart that has been sanctified and consecrated to the Lord. It is not wish-wash or hypocritical. Rather it seeks and thirsts for God with an honest heart. It follows hard after God. True worship is a sincere quest, reverence for God and a beautiful fellowship with Him. This kind of worship submits and surrenders to God. Jesus said this about true worship:
But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. John 4:23-24.
True worship is a sincere worship of God that comes from the inside of us. The first generation Christians worshipped the Lord in such manner. They sought Him for who He is. They followed Him with a sincere heart. Their worship and love for God flowed from their sincere hearts. They placed Him first and above all. They were all out for God and for the Gospel with singleness of heart. Their affections were all on the Lord; not some part, but all of their affections were on Him. For this, God’s power and presence were strong among them. The Christians that made up the Church in the days of the apostles were real Christians that worshipped the Lord in Spirit and in truth.
God is seeking for true worshippers. For such, the Lord desires. Sadly, this is lacking among Christians of now. True worshippers follow the Lord with their whole heart, in Spirit and in truth. They are honest in their proclaimed love for God, not wavering. Trial of faith, persecution and the pulling effect of the things of this world and its allure do not affect them or draw them away from the Lord. Their minds are made up and nothing can come between them and their worship of God. Their faith and worship are rooted in the Lord with a firm foundation. They are the abiding children of God whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life.
2 Chronicles 16:9 says the eyes of the Lord daily searches the earth to find true worshippers, so He will glorify Himself in their lives. He searches for those who follow and love Him with all their hearts. He calls them those “…whose heart is perfect toward Him”. Be a true worshipper. Let the Lord find you as He searches. Be among the approved and accepted by God; those dear to His heart and are one with Him. Worship God in Spirit and in truth and let Him find you. Let your sincere worship be seen by Him. He is not interested in unfounded, empty lip proclamation of love and service. He looks at the heart, the centre of worship. Surrender your heart to Him in true worship and let your worship be acceptable unto Him.
