The Head and Ahead
Mediocrity is not God's will for His children. Excellence, leadership and dominion are His will and design for us. God wants us to excel. He wants us to lead. He wants us to be the head and not the tail. He wants us to be ahead and not lag behind. God wants His people to lead those that are not in Him, so the world would know the difference. He doesn't intend us to trail behind those who do not know Him.
Deuteronomy 28:13
"The Lord will make you the head and not the tail; you shall be above only, and not be beneath, if you heed the commandments of the Lord your God, which I command you today, and are careful to observe them."
Being the head and ahead is being the best and it's not for our glory but for the Lord's glory. Everything God wants us to be and achieve is for His name, His honour and His glory. He wants us to dominate and express to the world our Father's excellence and power. In leadership and excellence we honour God, glorify Him and bring praise to His name.
God's will is for us to be the head and ahead, but there's a clause. We must live in obedience to God. We must keep His commandments and be at the centre of His will. So does the Lord command. We don't expect to excel if we are not in the path of obedience. Obedience brings blessings. Disobedience brings the opposite. Disobedience disconnects us from God, drags us down and stops our progress. Life excellence is for those who walk with God and live in obedience to Him and His Word. The promise is for such. The good news is- the grace of God is available and able to keep us in obedience to God.
Just like there's a difference between light and darkness, there must be a difference between those that walk with God and those who do not. There must be a difference between the children of God and the children of this dark world. The children of this world should be able to see the difference between us and them. We are the light and the salt of this world. We are who they are not. We have what they don't have.
As God declared in Deuteronomy 28:13, be the head and be ahead. Begin a relationship with God and be steadfast in it. Walk with the Lord. Live in obedience to Him and watch your life break forth in excellence and leadership as the Lord promised. Then your life will glorify and honour Him. Let God make you the head and keep you ahead.
