Former Ghanaian President Jerry Rawlings Dies of Corona-virus
Former Ghanaian President Jerry Rawlings is dead. He died on Thursday at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra, Ghana. Rawlings died from complications of COVID-19. He was in intensive care before giving up at age 73.
Jerry Rawlings was a military ruler who later joined politics. He led a military junta until 1992, and then served two terms as the democratically elected president of the West African country of Ghana.
He seized power twice in military coups but went on to bring democratic rule to the country.
