Ask In Faith
Ask in faith. Come to God in prayer of faith. It is only by faith that we receive from Him. Faith is believing that God is able to do what you are asking of Him. It is acknowledging the sovereignty and omnipotence of God. Faith is accepting that God is who He says He is and can do what He says He can do. It is having the conviction that He is all powerful and also truthful to keep His Word. Where there is faith, there is no doubt or fear. Doubt or unbelief is one way of saying God is not able and is not true to His Word and promises, which is a slight on Him. No wonder God detests unbelief.
It is easy to say we have faith until we face circumstances that look as if they defy faith. Faith without wavering prevails over all circumstances and problems, including the ones that seem impossible. Faith triumphs over all. When you believe is when you receive. There’s no shortcut to receiving from the Lord other than faith.
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1
Hebrews 11 says faith is the substance of things you are expecting to receive from God; the substance of the things you are asking from Him. It is the evidence of the things you are hoping for. If faith is the substance of things you are praying for, it means when you have faith you have received already. Faith is the evidence and the seal of your prayer to God.
Jesus said if you have faith as small as a mustard seed you can move mountains. The mustard seed is a very small seed. Faith as small as a mustard seed can speak to mountains and they would obey. You don’t require ‘great faith’ to achieve the impossible. The Lord says just a little faith and you will move mountains on your way. Why? Because it is not about the size of your faith, but about the God behind the faith; the God your faith rely on.
But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. James 1:6-7
James 1 describes a man that has no faith as one that wavers like a wave of the sea, driven with the wind and tossed about. This is to say such a person is unstable, having no direction. It further says he should not expect anything from God. He should not expect to receive from God when he prays without faith. That is the danger of a faithless prayer.
The book of Hebrews talks extensively about faith. It warns us about the severe dangers of unbelief. It also gives the catalogue of men and women like us who did the unthinkable through faith. These are heroes of faith; men and women who defied every odd and came out victorious and great all because of their faith. They are our examples because of their faith. The same faith is what we need to win. The same God is still the power that works behind the faith.
Approach God in faith and with confidence. Pray in faith. Faith does not fail or disappoint. The God you pray to is the maker of the whole universe; the creator of all things. He is able. There’s no other power other than His. He is the only God and He requires you to come to Him in faith, knowing He is able to do all things. Ask in faith and you will receive. Have the assurance that faith will never fail.
